Medicare Plan Finder Changes – Effective October 1, 2019

As part of a new eMedicare initiative, Medicare has redesigned their Plan Finder option on Medicare.gov. The point of this update is to make plan comparisons even easier. If you’re new to Medicare, there are a few ways that you can start the process.

First, there is generic plan information to compare Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage options and costs.

Second, you can create an account on myMedicare.gov in order to personalize your information and make the best possible choice. By creating an account under myMedicare.gov, you will receive a more personalized experience with better information to help you select a plan.

Under myMedicare.gov, you will also be able to pull a prescription list of medications you filled over the past twelve months, which provides cost and information for generic options. You can also gain more details on Medicare Advantage plans, and enroll into your selected plan.

Elder Law of East Tennessee will be hosting two educational events in October to assist clients, family and friends in understanding the changes and options for Medicare. To learn more about these free events in both Knoxville and Johnson City click here
