ALYSSA HUNTER

Intake Specialist

Alyssa Hunter, ELET Intake Specialist

As Intake Specialist at ELET, Alyssa’s role is to listen compassionately to new callers’ stories and determine whether ELET’s services may be appropriate for them. Coming from a background in speech-language pathology and direct customer service, Alyssa is an active listener who is sensitive to the needs of elders and the family members who support them. She is motivated to help them find solutions. During intake calls she listens to the details of the person’s situation, asks about their goals, collects data about their medical and financial circumstances, and gets to know their values and priorities. She offers reassurance that ELET can serve as a resource to help them overcome the challenges they face. If the caller’s needs are not within ELET’s practice areas, or if the caller chooses not to schedule a consultation, Alyssa directs them to other resources in the community so that they can get help addressing their concerns.

What is the problem you are best at solving for your clients?

With my extensive background in customer service, I feel I am best at listening and working with others to find solutions to their questions and concerns. Even if I may not have the answer, I am determined to get them to someone who does. I believe my ability to actively listen and my dedication to advocating for others allows me to put my best foot forward for each person I speak with.

What excites you about your work and the contribution you make to the ELET team?

Everybody has a story. We are all human beings living our lives, and we all have a story to tell. Sometimes it can be hard to share that story, and it can be even harder to ask for help. What excites me about my work here is that I get to hear those stories, and I get to help. It’s inspiring to listen to people share their experiences, and then use my own knowledge and experiences to help. It is a beautiful thing for a person to trust you with their story, and it is a beautiful thing to know you have a helping hand in it.

What do you love most about ELET?

Our wonderful, amazing, and totally radical team! It really is such a genuine group of people with such big hearts. You can tell everyone really cares about the mission here, and it is so exciting to be a part of a group so dedicated to serving others. They honestly make you feel like family from the start!

Where can we find you when you’re not working?

When I’m not at work you can find me at home watching a good documentary with my cat, or I’ll be out and about adventuring in this beautiful city (very likely somewhere with FOOD)!

Fun facts:

In 5th grade I won a 1st place medal for running a mile in under 5 minutes. Could I do that now? Absolutely not. Will I take that medal with me to my grave? Absolutely yes.
