ABA Top 40 Young LawyerElder Law of East Tennessee’s Bailey Schiermeyer Selected as American Bar Association’s Top 40 Young Lawyers Honoree (National Award)July 8, 2019, (Knoxville, Tennessee) – On June 28, 2019 The American Bar Association named its Top 40 Young Lawyers of 2019, recognizing young lawyer members who exemplify a broad range of high achievement, innovation, vision, leadership, and legal and community service.  Attorney Bailey Schiermeyer of Elder Law of East Tennessee has been selected as a 2019 honoree.When asked about the significance of the award Schiermeyer said, “I am excited to receive this award and to be included among a group of such accomplished attorneys. My work is important to me because the families that I represent are important to me, and it’s great to be recognized for the care and effort I put into representing elders and their families in East Tennessee.” Schiermeyer earned her Juris Doctorate degree from Regent University School of Law in 2014.  She is an active member of the Tennessee Bar Association Elder Law Section, the Life Care Planning Law Firms Association, and the Knoxville Bar Association. Amelia Crotwell, JD

Amelia Crotwell, founder and managing partner at Elder Law of East Tennessee, has guided families through long-term care and special needs challenges for nearly two decades. Specializing in Life Care Planning and special needs trusts, Amelia also collaborates across all areas of elder law, including wills, trusts, Medicare, Medicaid, probate, and veterans benefits planning. Certified as an Elder Law Attorney since 2011, she is president-elect of the Life Care Planning Law Firms Association and co-chair of their strategic planning committee. Amelia is deeply involved in the Special Needs Alliance and a prominent member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. She played a key role in founding the Tennessee chapter of NAELA, serving as its first president. A member of the Tennessee Bar Association and past chair of its Elder Law Section Executive Council, Amelia also dedicates time to pro bono work and community education. She earned her J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Tennessee College of Law and teaches Elder Law there as an adjunct professor since 2018.
