Connie Taylor Earns Elder Care Coordination Certificate
After a 15-week distance learning course, I am proud to announce that I now hold an Elder Care Coordinator certificate! In September 2012 I began an online course offered through the Stockton Center on Successful Aging in conjunction with the Life Care Planning Law Firms Association in order to benefit from the expertise of other Elder Care Coordinators from around the country and receive input from other professionals in my field. This certification reinforces my 25-plus years of direct experience in elder care and in coordinating care solutions for seniors and their families. It also underscores Elder Law of East Tennessee's commitment to achieving the highest levels of continuing education available in the industry so that we can best serve our clients.Elder Care Coordination is a relatively new field that marries the fields of geriatric social work and elder law. Traditional elder law practices are unable to address many of the complex care issues related to aging, while geriatric social workers are often unable to understand or address the complicated legal issues that confront older adults. In my job as Elder Care Coordinator at Elder Law of East Tennessee I help to bridge that gap, working with Elder Law Attorney Amelia Crotwell to manage both legal and care solutions simultaneously. In a previous blog from April 2011, I described my job like this:What does it mean to be an ECC? It means wearing a lot of different hats -- all with caring and professionalism. It means becoming a part of a family system. It means partnering with clients to find as good a fit as possible for their care needs. It means being an advocate with health care system professionals. It means being a broker with other senior service providers. It means being creative and flexible. It means being sensitive and sensible. It means always thinking about the best interests of the client first. It means the family can breathe a sigh of relief and put on a smile of satisfaction because they know the care their loved one is getting is the best in all aspects of their care! As Elder Care Coordinator for Elder Law of East Tennessee, I love helping seniors find the best care solutions so that they and their families can enjoy the highest possible quality of life. If I can help you or your loved ones, please give me a call at 951-2410 or send an e-mail to connie@elderlawetn.com. I look forward to hearing from you and to helping you solve all your elder care challenges.
